During my recent romantic escape to the enchanting town of Valladolid, I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Catedral Valladolid Yucatan. This delightful 3-star establishment boasts a strategic location right behind the main square, allowing easy access to local restaurants, the stunning Cathedral, and charming shopping spots. Despite the initial hiccup with our room view, the attentive staff promptly transferred us to a more comfortable first-floor room, which was both clean and well-equipped with air conditioning and free WiFi. I loved the rooftop terrace that offered breathtaking views of the Cathedral, perfect for enjoying a glass of wine under the stars after a day of exploration. Valladolid itself is a hidden gem, where the vibrancy of local life shines through, but the hotel stands out for its affordability and cozy atmosphere. For those planning to visit the majestic Chichen Itza as we did, I highly recommend skipping the expensive tour companies and taking an early Collectivo bus instead for a more authentic experience.
